Former X Factor judge Louis Walsh, who is behind groups such as Westlife and Boyzone, has shared why he’s unlikely to be involved with a potential reboot.
Last month it was reported that the annual talent series is set to be revived by creator Simon Cowell in 2023.
After it last aired in 2019, it’s speculated it could make a comeback on Channel 5, instead of ITV.
A source shared: ‘It has been decided that the time is right to bring X Factor back. It’s really exciting.
‘Everyone who will be working on the new series can’t wait to get started,’ an insider told The Mirror:
But it seems judging stalwart Louis, 69, isn’t too keen to be involved if it does end up coming back to screens.

Although he’s been on our TV sets for years, appearing on other various shows such as Ireland’s Got Talent and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
But as rumours of an X Factor reboot swirl, it seems he’s not sold on getting back to it now.

Speaking recently to former host Kate Thornton, the duo looked back on their time together on the hit ITV programme.
Chatting on her White Wine Question Time podcast, he said: ‘It was [an important part of pop culture], it really was and the shows are never going to be as good as that again.
‘It was real, it was funny, it was everything, everything is too perfect now, everyone is afraid to have an opinion.’

He explained to Kate: ‘I couldn’t do it, I don’t have a great filter, I like to say it as I see it. You know the people at home are thinking the same thing as you.’
He added: “Everyone is wonderful, “you’re going to be a star” and all that, they’re not going to be a star, there’s very few stars out there.
‘I think you have to be honest, that’s the one thing about Simon [Cowell], he’s honest and people might not like that. It’s very hard to make it in this business, even if you’re good – I don’t know, I like to say it like it is.

Louis was involved in a fair few spats during his time on the panel, and in November 2005, the Irish star quit the show mid-series out of protest regarding his treatment on the show.
This included a memorable incident which saw Sharon Osbourne drenching him with water during a live recording.

He soon returned, though, and appeared on and off until 2018, when he released a statement confirming he had decided not to return for the fifteenth series.
This was in order to focus on music management and other commitments, and shared: ‘The show needs a change and I’m ready to leave.’
