Love Island finalist Gemma Owen has revealed that her mum will have the final say on her romance with Luca Bish, and if she doesn’t approve, then the relationship is finished.
After exiting series eight of the ITV2 dating show in second place, behind winners Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti, eagle-eyed fans spotted Luca had been snubbed from the reality star’s Instagram page.
And now, the international dressage rider has noted that her mother’s approval could mean make or break.
‘If my mum was like “absolutely not” then yeah, I think that would be the end of it,’ Gemma admitted.
‘I haven’t had a chance to speak to her properly but from the small bits I’ve heard, she’s really happy and likes him.’
Gemma’s mum Louise Bonsall, who is married to Michael Owen, met Luca for the first time in the Love Island villa and noted that he resembles the former England player.
The Owen family also spoke to Luca on the phone after the Love Island final, with him sharing: ‘I got a few moments with them, and I am buzzing to meet them in person.’

And Gemma reckons her other half will get on like a house on fire with the rest on the clan, as she revealed: ‘I think they’ll get on and he’ll fit straight in. His personality, his banter and what he loves, I think he’ll get on with everyone.’
Luca’s behaviour towards Gemma has been called into question over recent weeks, with many claiming his actions have been misogynistic.
Love Island’s Luca Bish has poked fun at his ‘protective’ behaviour towards his partner Gemma Owen during an Instagram live with the finalists.
In previous episodes, he blew up at Gemma while accusing her of ‘flirting’ with Billy Brown despite her insisting she wasn’t ‘entertaining’ the bombshell’s advances.

More recently, he kicked off at Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope being voted one of the least compatible couples.
Luca joked about his protective nature during an Instagram live with fellow finalist Andrew Le Page on Monday after viewers called for him to go and get Gemma.
‘You want Gem? You want Gem?’ he said, before adding: ‘No chance, I’m so protective of her.’
Viewers were tickled by this, with one writing: ‘Luca’s joke about not showing Gemma ”because he’s PROTECTIVE” fair play, was funny.’

Another added: ‘Okay, I’ll give Luca this, that was a good one.’
‘In the villa they made it look like Luca couldn’t stand people saying he was protective but here he is making jokes about it. They did him so wrong in the edit.’
