Coldplay’s Wembley Stadium concert has been pushed back by two days due to a planned London Underground strike.

Chris Martin and co have been forced to move the show, part of their Music of the Spheres world tour, from August 19 to August 21 due to the expected industrial action in the capital.

A statement shared to the band’s official social media on Wednesday evening read: ‘Due to planned industrial action on the London Underground network, Coldplay’s Wembley Stadium concert on Friday 19 August 2022 has had to be rescheduled for Sunday 21 August 2022.

‘We have been informed that there will be insufficient transport for ticket holders on August 19 so, with regret, the event cannot be licensed for that day.

‘All tickets for Friday 19 August will remain valid for Sunday 21 August.

‘Any ticketholders who are unable to attend the rescheduled show can get a full refund on their ticket and are requested to contact their point of purchase before 18:00 on Wednesday 10 August 2022.’

We’re very sorry for the inevitable inconvenience caused by moving our 19 Aug Wembley date to 21 Aug.
The concert could not be licensed with no Tube service, so choice was cancel or reschedule to 21 Aug. Full ticket refunds are available. Again, sincere apologies. Phil Harvey https://t.co/BfHy6f2dlU

Returned tickets for the new date will then be available on general sale at 9:30 on the morning of Friday August 12.

The group’s manager, Phil Harvey, also posted a message on Twitter, where he shared his ‘sincere apologies’ for the ‘inevitable inconvenience’.

‘The concert could not be licensed with no Tube service, so choice was cancel or reschedule to 21 Aug,’ he added.

The Paradise chart-toppers, who recently brought a Ukrainian refugee busker on stage to perform with them in Warsaw, Poland, are also playing the stadium on August 13 and 20, when a UK national rail strike is planned, but those gigs are still going ahead as it stands, with ticketholders advised to check before they travel.

The Music of the Spheres tour continues in Brussels, Belgium tonight until August 9.

In September they will head to Brazil to begin an extensive South American leg of their tour.
