While, you may shudder in horror at the prospect of going to TK Maxx and rummaging through all the various racks and rails, but Jessica says there will usually be some great items hiding amongst everything else.

Jessica has managed to bag herself a Vetements dress for £30, a Mother of Pearl shirt for less than £20, and countless premium beauty products for huge discounts.

She says that you just need to “rummage smarter, not harder.”

Have a plan

Jessica recommends not aimlessly wandering the aisles of TK Maxx, as this can result in impulse buys and what can feel like endless searching.

If you know you want to buy a new handbag and pair of shoes, then you’ll know that you just need to check out these sections and won’t need to trek over to homeware.

Create a list

Her second tip is to create a list of items you want to get, and then try your best to stick to it.

Just add to your list between trips and you’ll know what to look for first, next time you visit the shop.

Jessica adds that her list currently consists of a gold candelabra, a knife block, and new trainers.

You can also add gift ideas to your list, purchasing Christmas and birthday presents throughout the year – just make sure to store these safely.

Start in clearance

According to this shopping pro, any trip to TK Maxx should begin in the clearance section, where some yellow-sticker items can be reduced to as low as 20p.

Although when looking in clearance be sure to check the quality of the item, as they may have faults or be customer returns.

Look for red stickers

Red stickers on tags mean that clearance-level discounts, however these items won’t be on the clearance rails.

Keep an eye out for these, as Jessica says: “It may be that a previous customer has put an item back in the wrong place or is hiding it for safekeeping.”

Speed search

Rather than checking every item, Jessica says you should treat the store like you would a supermarket – just for discounted clothes instead.

She suggests treating each rail like an aisle, scanning for colours and prints that you like.

Once you’ve spotted something you might like then it’s time to inspect the item.

Check you’re getting a good deal

While it can be easy to see what appears to be a big mark-down and get excited, Jessica says it’s still important to check that it’s not just too good to be true.

Google search the brand and a brief description of the item to see whether you’re really getting a good deal.

You may find it cheaper elsewhere, or that the RRP is different to what you’re seeing in the store.

Choose your time and location

Jessica argues that the best TK Maxx’s tend to be in retail parks, rather than in town and city centres.

She also recommends picking a time and place that won’t be too busy – giving you ample opportunity to find the best deals.

You may also want to check details of your chosen TK Maxx online.

Not all of their stores stock the same ranges, so if you’re looking for some high-end designers be sure to check that you’re going to one that has a Gold Label section.
