Willow Smith has given her view on her father Will Smith’s infamous attack on Chris Rock at the Oscars.

As the whole world is aware, back in March the I Am Legend actor strode on stage at the prestigious awards show and slapped comedian Chris across the face.

Seconds before, Chris had made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith – Will’s wife and Willow’s mother – comparing her to G.I.Jane.

He later claimed he did not know she suffered from hair loss disease alopecia.

Months later, and after he had been banned from the Academy Awards for 10 years, Will apologised for the slap and for telling Chris to keep his ‘wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth.’

Daughter Willow, 21, now says she viewed it as a ‘human’ reaction, and says because of her family’s celebrity status she thinks they sometimes aren’t viewed as such.

In a new interview with Billboard, the musician said: ‘I see my whole family as being human, and I love and accept them for all their humanness.

‘Because of the position that we’re in, our humanness sometimes isn’t accepted, and we’re expected to act in a way that isn’t conducive to a healthy human life and isn’t conducive to being honest.’

Will, 53, reached out to Chris in a lengthy apology video where he stated he had tried to get in touch with the comedian but had been told he ‘wasn’t ready’ to talk.

It was claimed that he isn’t planning on following up with the Oscar-winner any time soon, following the public apology.

‘Chris has no plans to reach out to Will’, an insider told ET Online. ‘He [Will] needs the public’s forgiveness, not Chris.’

In his apology video, Will spoke candidly about what happened and said sorry to those impacted, including Jada and their family.

He also directed an apology to Chris’ mother, who had said it felt like she had slapped her in that moment.

‘I spent the last three months replaying and understanding the nuances and the complexities of what happened in that moment.

‘And I’m not going to try to unpack all of that right now,’ he added.

‘But I can say to all of you – there is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment.’

Reflecting on why he didn’t apologize to Chris in his winning Oscar speech for his role in King Richard, he said: ‘I was fogged out by that point. It’s all fuzzy.’

Jada, meanwhile, recently admitted she hopes the former friends will be able to ‘reconcile’ after the shocking events.

She said: ‘Now about Oscar night, my deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile.

‘The state of the world today, we need them both. And we all actually need one another more than ever.’
