Matt Goss has been announced as the latest celebrity joining Strictly Come Dancing 2022.
The lineup for this year’s BBC Latin and ballroom competition is quickly taking shape with some big names in line, and the latest famous face was unveiled on Monday’s episode of This Morning as the Bros singer stepped out.
Appearing on the show, he admitted: ‘I’m quite shy off stage, I’m gonna have to face all those demons and just learn.’
He added: ‘I’m sure I’m gonna get a hard time now and then, but I’m going to do my best.
‘I’ve been asked to do it before but I think honestly, for me where I am in my life, 11 years in Vegas, all the venues I’ve played – I want to just get out of my own way, let go a little bit and have some fun.’
Goss revealed he has had the codename American Bulldog and only told three people after agreeing to appear on the show, and he’s back in the UK after living in the US for over two decades.
And when it comes to the glittery outfits and training regime, he teased: ‘I’m excited, I’m nervous. You have the conversation and then you go about your day and you think, “I’ve got to dance.” I’m eating everything that’s favourable to Spandex. I’ve got to make sure it’s alright, I’m excited.’
In a statement, he added: ‘I’m extremely nervous and excited, but I’m optimistic because I’m very supple from the knees down.’
He has joined a star studded field set for this year’s series, including Will Mellor, Kym Marsh, Kaye Adam, Tyler West, Richie Anderson, Jayde Adams and Ellie Simmonds.
The contestants will battle it out to impress judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.
Meanwhile, the upcoming series also welcomes four new professional dancers to the show with its biggest-ever pro cast with the addition of Vito Coppola, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley and Michelle Tsiakkas.
Although the pairings are yet to be revealed, it has been confirmed that Radio 2 and The One Show favourite Richie will be dancing with a male professional.
‘Strictly is the ultimate feel-good show, as soon as I hear that iconic theme tune it’s just pure escapism,’ he said. ‘It’s also a massive honour to be part of an all-male dance partnership, it’s so important we have that inclusion on such a huge show.’
