Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue and Sir Rod Stewart are among the celebrities paying tribute to Hollywood icon Dame Olivia Newton-John following her death.

The Grease actress died aged 73 at her home in California on Monday following a breast cancer battle that spanned three decades.

Dame Olivia’s family announced the news in a statement revealing that she was surrounded by her family, including husband John Easterling and daughter Chloe Lattanzi, at her ranch.

John Travolta, who co-starred with the actress in classic musical Grease, was among the first to pay tribute to Dame Olivia in a tear-jerking message, saying she ‘made all of our lives better’ before signing off as: ‘Your Danny, your John,’ in reference to his character in the film.

Tributes are continuing to pour in from all corners of Hollywood, with Mariah Carey sharing photos of occasions when she met Dame Olivia alongside a heartfelt post of fond memories.

The We Belong Together singer tweeted: ‘I first fell in love with Olivia’s voice when I was a little girl and heard “I Honestly Love You.” Songs like “Magic,” “Suddenly” and “Have You Never Been Mellow” showcased her beautiful airy tone and signature sound. And THEN there was GREASE. I was obsessed.

‘I dressed up as Bad Sandy for Halloween in 5th grade and thought I was everything. Years later, THE Olivia Newton-John walked out onto my stage in Melbourne, Australia and we sang our hearts out together to “Hopelessly Devoted To You.” This is a moment I will never ever forget.

‘I was also blessed to be in her presence on many other occasions and she was one of the kindest, most generous and lovely people I’ve ever met. She will be missed. She will be remembered. She will be loved. Olivia, I honestly love you.’

Stockard Channing, who co-starred with Dame Olivia in Grease as fellow Pink Lady Betty Rizzo, said in a statement shared with People: ‘I don’t know if I’ve known a lovelier human being.

‘Olivia was the essence of summer – her sunniness, her warmth and her grace are what always come to mind when I think of her.

‘I will miss her enormously.’

Moulin Rouge actress Nicole Kidman – and Dame Olivia’s fellow Aussie – penned: ‘Livvie brought the most divine light into the world. So much love, joy, inspiration and kindness, and we will always be hopelessly devoted to you,’ in reference to the song Olivia recorded for the Grease soundtrack.’

She included a photo of her and husband Keith Urban hugging Dame Olivia at the second Annual Penfolds Gala Black Tie Dinner at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles in 2005.
