Dexter Lumis made his return to WWE in shocking fashion at the end of Monday Night Raw.
This week’s episode ended on a chaotic and fascinating note as the former NXT star – who was released back in April as part of continued roster cuts – appeared in the crowd being hauled out by security and police.
The Tortured Artist was seen after the main event which saw AJ Styles beat The Miz in a fantastic No Disqualification Match.
The Phenomenal One turned his attention to the crowd, with fans shown a wide shot – with no close up until the clip was posted on Instagram – of Lumis being dragged away as he tried to hop the barrier.
It was a fantastic way to end the show and reintroduce a dark, twisted character from NXT, and someone who was heavily featured during Triple H’s black and gold era.
There were plenty of strange goings-on during the night which foreshadowed Lumis’ comeback, with social media buzzing trying to connect the dots.
First, Kevin Owens was cutting a promo backstage when Nikki A.S.H. and Doudrop could be seen in the background next to a car wreck, while another moment showed officers running backstage.
It all culminated in Lumis appearing in the closing moments of the show, with fans now left wondering what’s next.
Meanwhile, it’s also another example of Triple H leaving his mark on WWE in his roles as head of both talent relations and creative, with several names already been brought back after previously being let go by the Vince McMahon regime.
At SummerSlam, Dakota Kai made her return alongside Bayley and Iyo Sky to confront Bianca Belair, and the villains will now face the EST of WWE, Alexa Bliss and Asuka when Clash At The Castle comes to the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on September 3.
On SmackDown last week, fans saw another comeback as Karrion Kross – backed by real life wife Scarlett Bordeaux – appeared and attacked Drew McIntyre, and there are rumours that the likes of Johnny Gargano, Bray Wyatt, Sasha Banks and more could also re-sign.
WWE Raw airs Monday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
