Love Island star Danica Taylor has spoken out about the backlash that Luca Bish received from fans during the series, saying that he ‘doesn’t deserve the hate he’s getting’.
However, the dancer, who’s currently dating fellow islander Jamie Allen, also added that she ‘sees what the viewers are saying in some sense’.
On this year’s programme, Luca – who finished in second place with Gemma Owen – was accused by viewers of ‘bullying’ on the series, after he and Dami Hope appeared to target Tasha Ghouri with jibes, with the pair apologising to her after a particularly brutal game of Snog, Marry, Pie.
The fishmonger was also seen fuming during the Mad Movies activity, as he watched Gemma and Billy Brown seemingly ‘flirt’ when he wasn’t around, a reaction that sparked shocked reactions from fans.
In a new interview, Danica, 21, and Jamie, 27, addressed the flack Luca has been receiving, coming to his defence.
‘Luca’s just besotted by the girl. He’s fallen hard. He’s lost his head a little bit. He doesn’t deserve the negativity, he’s a great guy,’ Danica told OK! magazine, having initially shown interest in Luca when she first entered the villa.

‘Yeah, there’s parts of everybody that we might not get along with and I do see what the viewers are saying in some sense. He loves Gemma so much, he doesn’t want to see her necking on with another guy, or doing anything.’
Jamie added that in his opinion, ‘they’re being very hard on him’.
‘They are! He is a really nice boy,’ Danica agreed.

She added that despite Danica choosing to briefly couple up with Luca, a move that made him extremely disgruntled, ‘he took time to calm down’.
‘He was actually quite nice to me and said, “Sorry, I’m into Gemma.” He doesn’t deserve the hate he’s getting. People will see it in time to come, a reality TV show is very edited,’ she said.
During the interview, Danica also confirmed that since being dumped from Love Island, the salon is very much open with Jamie… although the couple are yet to go official.
When asked if there have been ‘many trips to the salon’ – with the girls having used the salon as a metaphor for sexual activity in the villa – she responded: ‘The beauty salon is fully working. It’s all good, full works. Why not?’
Love Island is available to watch on ITV Hub.
