Janet Street-Porter brands Helen Skelton ‘needy’ after star ‘signs up for Strictly Come Dancing to bounce back from marriage split’-Stella Akinwumi-Entertainment – Metro

Janet Street-Porter revealed Helen Skelton’s rumoured Strictly Come Dancing appearance makes her ‘anxious.’

The Countryfile presenter confirmed her breakup from husband Richie Myler after nine years of marriage.

According to reports, Helen wants to use the glamourous opportunity to ‘bounce back’ from her marriage split.

During Wednesday’s edition, Helen’s rumoured Strictly casting was the inspiration behind one of the topics discussed between presenters Christine Lampard, Coleen Nolan, Denise Welch and Janet.

Reacting to the speculation, a confused Janet said: ‘Helen Skelton said this, that she’s looking for love on a TV show.’

‘She’s talking about the Strictly curse,’ replied Coleen.

‘And good on her, if I ever get Strictly and that curse doesn’t hit me, I’m voting myself off.’

After being asked why she considered it to be a negative, Janet added: ‘It just makes me anxious for her that she’s revealed too much, she sounds too needy.

‘The last place I would look for love would be on a TV show.’

‘Most people are absolutely desperate to avoid the Strictly curse but Helen would love it to give her some confidence back.

Helen announced she and rugby player Richie had split in April, four months after welcoming their third child together.

Richie was soon revealed to have moved on with new girlfriend Stephanie Thirkill, the daughter of Leeds Rhinos president Andrew Thirkill.

The new couple have been enjoying some time away together in Cornwall, with Richie sharing a photo of them embracing at sunset, adding that the visit was ‘worth a 32 year wait’.

Stephanie responded to the post to comment: ‘Thanks for the best weekend! LOVE YOU.’

A source claimed Helen was left feeling ‘devastated’ after seeing the post, telling New! magazine: ‘Helen is devastated. It’s one thing knowing it’s happening, but it’s another thing actually seeing it.’
