‘Sima Aunty from Mumbai’ is officially back on our screens as series two of Indian Matchmaking has begun.
This time around, Sima Taparia is reuniting with a few old faces like Pradhyuman and Nadia as well as new ones as she travels around the world to match some of her clients with suitable partners.
Along the way, there’s dating fails, meeting-the-families on a first date, and wish-lists that cover everything under the sun from Taco Bell lovers to man-buns.
Gifting them with biodatas and checking their stars are aligned, ‘Aunty Sima’ is the matchmaker leading it all.
In 2017, Sima was part of a documentary titled A Suitable Girl, which saw three Indian women over a four-year period trying to navigate the traditional matchmaking structures in India.
In the documentary, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and received the Best Director award there, Sima starred as one of the matchmakers.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, Sima revealed that being a matchmaker has been in her ‘destiny’ since childhood.
She told us: ‘Since childhood God has given me a unique ability to talk to people, to understand them, to socialise with them and connect to people.

‘I like talking to people. I like socialising, understanding their personalities.
‘When I knew I had this knack and this hobby and quality in me, I thought why not help our community in India because this is a very important subject.’

She added: ‘God has made me a matchmaker.’
Having done this as a profession for 25 years, Sima brought her talents to the rest of the world with the first season of Indian Matchmaking, which was a big hit.
‘I never dreamt that the show will rock the world,’ she told us.
