The Strictly Come Dancing 2022 line-up is gradually taking shape, with actors, comedians, DJs, sports stars and musicians all lining up to take a turn around the dancefloor.

And the latest celebrity to join the line-up is singer and CBBC star Molly Rainford, who has become the tenth person confirmed for the ballroom this year.

Molly joins the likes of actress and comedian Ellie Taylor, Bros singer Matt Goss, Kiss FM DJ Tyler West, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, comedian Jayde Adams, Loose Women presenter Kaye Adams, Radio 2 host Richie Anderson, Hear’Say singer and soap star Kym Marsh, and former Hollyoaks actor Will Mellor.

Who is Molly Rainford and how old is she?

Molly is one of the youngest contestants on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing at 21 – although she will celebrate her 22nd birthday on November 22.

The Essex-born singer originally found fame at the age of just 11, when she appeared on the 2012 series of Britain’s Got Talent.

Molly sailed through her original audition with four yeses from the judges, with Alesha Dixon telling her: ‘You are 11 years old and you sing with such maturity and control. You’ve just blown me away.’ – while Simon Cowell added: ‘I like you because you’ve got soul.’

She made it to the final of the 2012 series where she wowed the panel once again with her version of Ave Maria – eventually finishing in sixth place behind winners Ashleigh and Pudsey.

Afterwards, Molly studied at the Sylvia Young Theatre School after being awarded their first ever scholarship.

Currently, she is known to legions of CBBC viewers for playing the titular intergalactic pop star in the series Nova Jones, which began on the channel in 2021.

The show has proven so popular that the second series is due to air this autumn and a third is already on the way.

Molly has also released two EPs, including one in 2019 which featured the single Commitment, and which has been streamed over two million times.

Not much is known about Molly’s dating life and she has not recently spoken publicly about her relationship status.
