Ric Flair has revealed he passed out on two separate occasions due to dehydration during his last match almost two weeks ago.

The Nature Boy – who is a two-time WWE Hall of Famer – teamed with his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo to defeat Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal in his retirement bout on July 31 in a bloody and intense clash.

Now, the 16-time world champion has opened up on his performance and health during the highly anticipated match.

Speaking on the To Be The Man podcast, Flair pointed to his weight management regime as he said: ‘I don’t think people realize that I passed out twice. What happened was, my regimentation for training was so strict that I kept my weight on. I wanted my perfect weight to be like 220lbs going in.

‘So, the last day and a half, aside from all the work that we had planned for me to do, I didn’t hydrate cause I had it in my mind that I had to weigh 219lbs.

‘So anyway, I went to the ring at about 217lbs. What happened during the body of the match, I just became dehydrated.’

During the match, Flair realised he had ‘missed about, clearly, like 10 seconds’ when Andrade told him it was time for him to tag in while he was stood on the apron.

The other moment came after Jarrett – as planned – swung his guitar and missed Flair only to crack Lethal instead.

He explained: ‘Then along came the guitar, right down bingo, don’t know. While I was down, I passed out again. I just passed out. Manny [Andrade] is going, “Sir, you have to wake up, I have the brass knuckles, sir, you have to wake up.”

‘So then I woke up, I knew where we were right, boom, and we’re home. I swear to God, twice during the match, I went completely black.’

Before the bout, Flair – who has since appeared in a non-wrestling role getting physical with Carlos Colon for WWC in Puerto Rico – vowed it would be his final match, although he has since admitted he regrets that promise.
