The Crown is desperately on the hunt to cast a young Prince William for the sixth and final series of the Netflix period drama.

Casting director Robert Sterne has got a mammoth job on his hands to find the ideal person as filming is due to begin in just a few weeks

‘Netflix series The Crown is searching for an exceptional young actor to play Prince William in the next series,’ an advert posted online reads.

‘This is a significant role in this award-winning drama, and we are looking for a strong physical resemblance. Shooting will commence in early September 2022.’

It continued: ‘No previous professional acting experience is required. We are very experienced in providing a great deal of support for the young actors and their families through what they find a uniquely rewarding creative process.’

It appears that casting director Sterne is also still searching for a young child star to play Prince Harry in the series.

The Crown season five is set to be released on Netflix in November this year, with Dominic West taking on the role of Prince Charles from Josh O’Connor and Imelda Staunton taking over from Olivia Coleman as Queen Elizabeth II.

The upcoming series will track the breakdown of Prince Charles’s relationship with Princess Diana (to be played by Elizabeth Debicki) and his subsequent affair with first love, Camilla Parker-Bowles, before his divorce.

Writer and creator Peter Morgan added: ‘As we started to discuss the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons.’
