What a morning! (Picture: Channel 4)

The Big Breakfast viewers were left with a jump in their step and a smile on their faces after a simply epic show as the Channel 4 series was brought back.

AJ Odudu and Mo Gilligan were joined by the likes of Denise Van Outen, Daniel Kaluuya and Love Island 2022 winners Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Culculoglu for what turned out to be a heavily entertaining first of four live episodes.

Fresh off their victory against Germany at the Euros, two of the Lionesses, Ella Toone and Alessia Russo, also appeared as guests, as did comedian and presenter Joel Dommett, rapper Aitch and chef Big Has.

The live special saw Ekin-Su and Davide reveal their new ITV show, a hilarious video-chat with none other than Rita Ora and plenty of viewer interaction with competitions and call-ins.

And fans at home were loving it.

So much so that they actually want more than just the four Summer episodes we’ve been promised, as many took to social media to beg for the series to continue weekly.

#TheBigBreakfast is basically providing Saturday morning chaos nostalgia for the generation who grew up on Live & Kicking and SM:TV Live.

Zig and Zag returning, and then Barry doing a sketch with Denise van Outen’s Pat Butcher. The Big Breakfast truly is back, or I’ve woken up in the 90s. Outstanding scenes. #TheBigBreakfast pic.twitter.com/dFfg99LFEY
