Love Island’s Paige Thorne has addressed the ongoing criticism over her behaviour during the villa.

Following their exit from the hit show, several stars have spilled the tea over what went down behind the scenes, with many calling out Paige’s ‘mean girl’ persona.

Former co-star Danica Taylor, 21, recently confessed that she wished she confronted the paramedic, 24, over her behaviour on the night Antigoni Buxton, 26, was booted off the show.

Addressing the backlash with 2021 show finalist Toby Aromolaran on his Fancy a Chat? podcast, Paige said: ‘Do you know what? People have got to do what they’ve got to do, haven’t they?’

‘Do you know what I mean? And if you’ve got to talk s**t about somebody else to keep yourself relevant, then okay, that’s fine. That’s absolutely fine, but that’s not my vibe.’

‘Why can’t you focus on yourself and all the positive things,’ she added.

‘I’m not about that. I’m in my little positive bubble and I stay firmly inside it. People just want to try to pop it sometimes but it’s impenetrable, so no.’

The Welsh star narrowly missed out on a place in the final with now official boyfriend Adam Collard, but the pair couldn’t be more loved up as they’ve settled into life as a couple in the outside world.

Paige also shared her intentions to return to work as a paramedic.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine on Friday, Paige – who was originally coupled up with Jacques O’Neill before he left the Majorcan villa – shared how she got major FOMO (fear of missing out) after the show ended and she heard an ambulance with sirens blaring.

‘I’ve got a meeting to go back to paramedic work, so that will be exciting,’ she said.

‘I actually saw an ambulance the other day with sirens on and I had like, serious FOMO. I was like, get me my ambulance back!

‘So yeah, I’m gonna go back into that a little bit and just see what other opportunities come’.

Love Island is available to stream in full on ITV Hub.
