I’m an elegance coach and low-rise jeans make you look cheap – here’s how to look expensive on the tiniest budget

Elegance coach Anna Bey is a pro in all thing expensive fashion, but she revealed that it’s possible to get the look for less.

One of the main things to pay attention to is the colour and fabric combination, Anna explained.

She said: “When we’re shopping on a budget we need to pay extra attention to this because cheaper fabrics can’t be purchased in every colour if you want to look expensive.

“A fool-proof method is usually to purchase neutrals, including whites and blacks.”

Whereas brighter colours might giveaway that your clothes are cheap, neutral shades hide it better, making it easy to fake it.

Not only that, but buttons can be a huge giveaway of a cheap outfit, “large metal buttons or very shiny and not very expensive looking,” she said.

“My advice is to focus on buttons that somehow look natural if you find plastic buttons that are designed to look like bone or pearl that’s going to elevate the button a lot.”

If you find a bargain jacket that you love but think the buttons cheapen to look, it’s easy to switch the buttons to create a bespoke jacket.

But make sure you don’t pair it with low-rise jeans – they’re a big no-no as far as Anna is concerned.

She said: “The low waist is by far the most cheap looking waist placement that exists.

“Unfortunately it also only suits very few people because they have to have a specific body shape to be able to pull that off.

“The rest of us mortals have to invest in mid-rise or high-rise waists if we want to look expensive.”

The elegance coach explained that higher waists will elongate your body, which is much more flattering.

Finally, if you really want to avoid looking cheap make sure you’re wearing the right neckline.

“We have necklines that are more expensive looking than others,” she said.
