This is revelatory for some.

Ok, so it turns out Katy Perry’s Just Eat jingle is quite different in Australia-Mel Evans-Entertainment – Metro

Ring, ding, dong, the UK clip is *nearly* identical to the ones in Australia

It seems people are only just catching up on the fact Katy Perry’s Just Eat jingle, a cultural reset, if you will, is quite different in other countries.

That’s right, we may know it as Just Eat and cannot resist finishing a query to ‘did somebody say…’ with those two words, but in Australia and Canada, somebody did not say Just Eat.

And it’s weird, man.

Full disclosure, this here article’s author is Australian and grew up knowing the local version as Menulog, complete with its own near-identical jingle.

But Katy’s latest tune has made things weird for some Brits, *cough* colleagues in the Metro.co.uk office, who have just discovered a world (it’s called Australia) in which the saying is, ‘Did somebody say, Menulog?’

Even weirder, let us take you to Canada, dear reader, where Just Eat/Menulog is actually called Skip The Dishes and we’re dealing with, ‘Did somebody say…Skip!’

It’s a bizarre world out there, we know.

And in a brilliant turn of events, Katy’s amazing, dare we say bop of a theme tune, in which she takes us on a whimsical ride of takeaway proportions, has also been re-recorded reveal times to reflect this international feast of advertising.

If you truly dare, enjoy the different versions of her song. Compare and contrast. We understand if nothing sounds quite as natural as the UK version. We get it. You know what you know.

Despite the ad being out now for several weeks, it may be the first time a lot of people – AKA aforementioned colleagues – are cottoning on to the fact the delivery service is known by different names in other countries, but, for some reason, shares the same iconic phrase, but a snoop (which, coincidentally is a lovely segue to remind you Snoop Dogg was the face of Just Eat/Menulog) online shows this mindblowing information has been baffling punters for a bit now.

Feeling hungry?

Let’s not forget people made the same discovery when Snoop fronted a Just Eat campaign

Last week one baffled Twitter user wrote: ‘Did you know, JustEat is in America and they call it ‘MenuLog’ – wtf is that. Literally what is it. What is it. Menu. Log,’ while one mused earlier this year before Katy’s tune: ‘It will never not be funny to me that Just Eat is called MenuLog in Australia.’

Still, not everyone is team UK in this new battle of the country theme songs, with one writing on the Just Eat’s YouTube version: ‘Glad to be Australian MenuLog sounds so much better than “Just Eat”.’

It’s nary the first time this conversation has come around, though, as Snoop Dogg’s iconic Just Eat rap garnered a similar response when punters discovered it had been altered for international markets with near-identical jingles.

Speaking about her foray into the world of food-themed songs, after bringing a love of such nosh through her music videos and her now-famous Met Gala burger outfit, Katy previously said of lending her face for the advert: ‘Coincidentally most of my records and eras have had food undertones to them, from strawberries, to peppermints to now mushrooms.

‘Ordering takeaway is a regular Saturday night for me, so it was fun to channel that into a video that is a combination of the things that bring joy to my life: poppy bright colours, wild outfits, and food puns sung over a catchy tune.’
