Paul Mescal and Phoebe Bridgers look set to take a huge step in their relationship as they reportedly plan to buy a home together.

The Irish star, 26, and US musician, 27, have been together for around two years, meeting off the back of Paul’s Normal People fame.

Since then the pair have been head-over-heels for each other, spotted kissing on the street and supporting each other’s careers.

There have also been rumours of an engagement, and though neither Paul nor Phoebe have commented on the speculation, they’re clearly as enamoured as ever.

The rumour mill is now sparking into life again, with whispers that the celebrity couple are planning to put down roots in Paul’s native Ireland as they prepare to buy a home in the countryside.

According to the Irish Examiner, Paul and Phoebe have set their sights on an old farmhouse in the idyllic Schull in West Cork.

The seaside village, small as it is, is no stranger to A-Listers, with Hollywood star and Carlow native Saoirse Ronan already owning property in the area.

(And, coincidentally, Paul and Saoirse are set to star in upcoming film Foe, which sees them play a married couple.)

A source told the outlet that the Kildare man and Pasadena musician have been telling close friends that they are in the process of buying the countryside home together.

The home in question is believed to be in the Schull and Ballydehob area and is reportedly still undergoing the selling process, with no sale agreed as of yet.

It comes after Phoebe reportedly introduced Paul as her fiance to people as the couple attended Coachella in May, though has not been seen wearing an engagement ring.

Paul and Phoebe had a brilliantly modern (and public) beginning to their relationship, when in May 2020 Phoebe – like the rest of the world – watched BBC series Normal People, based on the book by Sally Rooney.

She tweeted: ‘Finished Normal People and now I’m sad and horny – oh, wait…’

To which Paul replied: ‘I’m officially dead.’

The exchange quickly led to a blossoming friendship and the two collaborating on Phoebe’s Savior Complex music video.

Phoebe later admitted to NME that she thought Paul was a ‘cute boy’ after watching his hit BBC series, and that her heart did ‘a little pitter-patter’ when he followed her back on Instagram.
