Author Lynda La Plante thrilled This Morning viewers by bringing her absolutely huge dog Hugo onto the show, to sing opera, naturally.

Crime writer Lynda appeared on the daytime show to promote her latest novel Vanished, which she has revealed his dedicated to her dog Hugo.

This meant the crew at This Morning, as well as Andi Peters and Rochelle Humes had to contend with the absolute giant four-legged friend causing chaos in the studio.

But the best was yet to come as the dog, who is a borzoi, showed off his singing skills after Lynda spent some time chatting about her 49th book.

After previously walking off the set, Hugo was ushered back to join his owner for his big moment.

To the familiar track of God Save The Queen, the VIP guest did indeed start to howl, leaving Rochelle and Andi lost for words, and viewers absolutely baffled.

‘It works, I’ve not heard him made a sound all morning,’ Rochelle remarked.

‘He does that to everything, adverts he’s off, he can do different levels,’ Lynda said, before demonstrating for the hosts.

Of course, those tuning in at home were absolutely loving the madness and weren’t convinced Lynda’s pet wasn’t a horse.

One commented on Twitter: ‘#ThisMorning You know you’re pissed when you bring some kind of giant white anteater onto a TV show and claim it’s a singing dog.’

Another weighed in: ‘That dog is absolutely gorgeous 🤣🤣 it’s like a horse 🤣 #ThisMorning.’

Someone else wrote: ‘I love Lynda La Plante’s dog on #ThisMorning 😂😂 also never seen a dog look more like its owner. Both of them fabulous beasts!’
