GBBO fans, it’s time to get excited as the Great American Baking Show is on the way.

We’ve all fallen in love with the Great British Bake-Off and iconic judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood are set to bring their expertise to Roku for a brand new series.

The pair will be joined in the infamous tent by hosts Ellie Kemper and Zach Cherry, who will be hoping to get their hands on some of those delicious creations.

Confirming the news, Brian Tannenbaum, Head of Alternative Originals at Roku said: ‘We could not ask for a more perfect duo than Ellie and Zach to co-host The Great American Baking Show.

‘Our adaptation of the iconic series will continue to dish out the enduring warmth and humor that fans of the Baking Show universe love, with a twist that we know Ellie and Zach will deliver.

‘The passion that fans have for this franchise is unmatched, and we’re so honored to kick off production with Love Productions USA to bring The Great American Baking Show exclusively to The Roku Channel.’

According to TVLine, the US adaptation of the hit UK series, also known as the Great British Baking Show, will hit our screens next year.

Ellie and Cherry will be presenting the series and watching on in hope – and sheer panic – while contestants battle it out to win the title of America’s best baker.

Although the competition currently streams on Netflix, Roku will premiere the six-part series, complete with 60-minute episodes, in 2023 – with production currently taking place in the UK.

Paul previously appeared on the Great American Baking Show for three seasons before a three-year hiatus during the global pandemic.

But this marks the first time he will be joined by Prue for the US version.

Prue, who famously replaced Mary Berry in the tent when the program moved from BBC to Channel 4, previously opened up about the love that Americans have for the competition, explaining that there was confusion due to the lack of prize on offer.

‘It’s quite funny. I’ve never been recognized by Americans before, but now I do and they tell me that they love The Great British Baking Show,’ she said on Loose Women in 2020.

‘All their competition shows are very aggressive and the competitors diss each other and try to get ahead.

‘They can’t understand that Bake Off, or The Baking Show, has no prize apart from winning. It has a cake stand, a tiny, ordinary cake stand, but there’s no money.

‘They can’t believe you can have a show with no money.’

The Great American Baking Show will premiere on the Roku channel in 2023.
