Charli XCX and AJ Tracey will replace Jack Harlow and Maneskin at Reading and Leeds Festival after the acts pulled out to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Organisers of the double-site festival, which will take place at Reading’s Richfield Avenue and Leeds’ Bramham Park, shared their dismay in a statement posted on social media.

‘We are saddened to hear that Jack Harlow and Maneskin have decided to perform at an award show the same weekend they were confirmed to play Reading and Leeds,’ they said.

‘We are working on some exciting replacements to join Arctic Monkeys, Dave, Bring Me The Horizon, The 1975, Halsey, Megan Thee Stallion, D-Block Europe, PinkPantheress, Joy Crookes, Fontaines DC, Bastille, Willow, Wolf Alice, Glass Animals, Hybrid Minds and many others at Reading Leeds Festivals this August Bank Holiday weekend, watch this space!’

In their own statement, Supermodel rockers Maneskin said the change was down to ‘unforeseen scheduling conflicts’.

‘We are sad to announce that unfortunately due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts, we are no longer able to perform at Reading and Leeds festival this year,’ they wrote.

‘We love and miss the UK and all of our beloved UK fans and we’re absolutely
gutted to no longer be able to play these shows.

‘We’re really excited for the year to come and want to thank you for
your support and patience, we’ll hopefully be back in the UK soon and we
can’t wait to see you.’

The 1975 also replaced original headliners Rage Against The Machine after the California rockers were forced to cancel their upcoming UK and European tour dates due to a leg injury suffered by vocalist Zach de la Rocha.

The band confirmed the cancellations on their official Twitter account, telling fans: ‘Per medical guidance, Zack De La Rocha has been advised that the August and September 2022 UK and European leg of the Rage Against The Machine tour cannot proceed.

‘It is with great disappointment that we announce this cancellation.’

Reading and Leeds Festival will take place from Friday, August 26 to Sunday, August 28.
