Anything can happen in WWE, and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson knows all about the physical risks wrestlers take when they step between the ropes.
The former world champion turned Hollywood icon has made a number of appearances – including memorable matches with John Cena – since his official retirement in 2004, and back in 2013 he found himself targeted by The Shield.
The formidable group – made up of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose (now Jon Moxley in AEW) – laid out The Rock with their signature Triple Powerbomb move, driving him into the mat and causing some damage in the process.
Joining Seth and his wife Becky Lynch for an Instagram Live stream this week, Dwayne recalled: ‘You know what was really cool, was when The Shield attacked me before WrestleMania, and then powerbombed me.
‘I remember Seth, I was on Roman’s shoulders, and Seth in particular threw me down so hard on that mat, busted my blood vessels, blood started coming up out of my mouth.
‘Roman looked down and was like, “you okay Uso?” [He] called me brother in Samoan, and before I could answer Seth was like, ‘Who gives a s**t?’ And he walked away!’
Becky joked that her husband ‘said he regretted nothing’, while Seth insisted he didn’t fully remember how things actually went down.
‘You know this was 10 years ago, I don’t have a full recollection of this memory, we did powerbomb you twice, once in the dark through a table, and then another time we made you bleed your own blood,’ he teased.
‘I’m not sure which one was which, there’s a lot of things that happen in the heat of the moment, you know, it is what it is.’
Meanwhile, Seth – whose has two-year-old daughter Roux with Becky – recently admitted being a father is making him look at wrestling in a different way.
He exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘It’s one of those things – for me, it’s extra inspiring. You wanna work harder to make the kid proud and earn as much of a living as you can to provide for that person.
‘I think she’s been extra inspirational in that way, but at the same time, she’s obviously made me think about things in a safer way.’
