Dame Olivia Newton-John is being honored in cinemas across the US, following her death.

The iconic actress died at the beginning of the month, aged 73, with her husband confirming the news.

It has now been announced that AMC theatres will be airing her beloved musical Grease in special screenings, in memory of the late star.

Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Theatres, confirmed the move on Twitter, sharing that a portion of the $5 ticket price would go to charity.

‘To honor the late Olivia Newton-John: many of our U.S. theatres this weekend will show her classic 1978 hit movie Grease, again on the big screen,’ he penned. 

‘An inexpensive $5 admission price, and through our charity AMC Cares we will donate $1 per sold ticket to breast cancer research.’

Fans were thrilled, and rushed to praise the move – as well as decide on their weekend plans.

One replied: ‘Such a nice way to honor!!!’

‘I’ve got chills,’ another commented, quoting the hit, You’re The One That I Want. ‘Go and have a great time in Olivia’s memory.’

‘My first movie I saw in the theater was Grease,’ a follower said. ‘This will be such an honor and for a great cause.

As an impressed fan added: ‘Fun film to watch and a donation to breast cancer research-nice idea #breastcancer #CANCER.’

Dame Olivia’s husband, John Easterling, confirmed the sad news of her death in a statement on August 8.

Her cause of death has not yet been made public, but the late actress was battling cancer before she died.

She boasted an incredible singing career but was most known for her role as Sandy Olsson in the 1978 flick Grease, opposite John Travolta who played her love interest, Danny Zuko.

Travolta was among those sharing tributes on social media following his co-star’s death, and offered a tearjerking message of condolence.
