Lady Leshurr has outlined how MTV’s reboot of Pimp My Ride will be ‘greener’ than the original through its collaboration with eBay.

Fans of Pimp My Ride will remember the original US version was hosted by rapper Xzibit, and ran from 2004 to 2007.

But it’s now making a comeback, with Lady Leshurr helming a new six-part series, with the first episode landing today, August 19.

The rapper will be on-hand to keep an eye on some incredible motoring transformations but has also shared another way in which the programme will differ this time around.

Chatting to Metro.co.uk ahead of the launch on MTV’s YouTube channel, she took us through the more sustainable approach from the show this time around.

She told us: ’The format is pretty similar, because we’re still pimping rides, and it’s the public.’

But when sharing what’s changed, she said: ‘I think it’s gone a bit greener.

‘It’s in collaboration with eBay, so they recycle a lot of the parts. I think that’s probably a difference from the other show.

The show, as much as possible, uses supplies provided by eBay’s dedicated car parts and accessories division.

Car transformations are carried out by one-stop-auto shop Wrench Studios in Surrey and will include everything from a restored 1966 Volkswagen Beetle to a Fast & Furious-inspired 1992 Mitsubishi GTO.

The fresh format will look to highlight upcycling and buying preloved, with all the heart and soul of the original series.

Giving more of an overview of what fans could expect, the host continued: ‘It’s really lovely people with great background stories of their experience with their car, or how they got their car in the first place.

‘Every contestant has their own background story that can connect to the crowd and the audience. I think it’s going to be really good. Banging, actually!’

Pimp My Ride isn’t the only show recently to have partnered with the online auction site in recent months.

Love Island fans were pleased to see the ITV2 show team up with eBay to provide second-hand clothes to the islanders, in a bid to promote more sustainable fashion.

Finalist Tasha Ghouri has since confirmed she will continue to work with the brand, after revealing her latest campaign shortly after leaving the villa.

Of the partnership, Eve Williams, Chief Marketing Officer at eBay UK added: With a car part sold every second on the marketplace, eBay helps millions of motorists improve their vehicles every year.

‘That’s why we’re delighted to be partnering with MTV on Pimp My Ride, inspiring a new generation of DIY motor enthusiasts to experiment with cost-effective, “greener” car parts.’

On what it was like to be part of the hit series, Lady Leshurr concluded: ‘The only word I can use is overwhelmed because it is a part of my childhood. It reminds me of my childhood and spending time with my family.

‘It was just such a crazy, wild, entertaining show and just to have the opportunity to be the face of it and bring it back because I know so many people have missed it, it’s just so amazing.’
