Matt Smith has said that fatherhood would change him for the better and that having children is ‘what life is all about’.
The Doctor Who star, who is currently single and without children, admitted that becoming a parent would give him perspective and make him less ‘self-involved’.
‘I would imagine having children allows this [fame] all to fade away a bit because there just isn’t the time to w*** on and on,’ said the 39-year-old.
‘There isn’t the time to be so self-involved. Not if someone needs to go to school or they’ve got spaghetti hoops up their nose.’
The actor, who has previously dated actresses Lily James and Daisy Lowe, added to Esquire: ‘I do think that’s what life is all about in the end. Children.
‘Making a family. You know, when you’re dead, and you’re on the slab, that’s what’ll count.’

Matt, who starred as Prince Philip, alongside Claire Foy, who played Queen Elizabeth in the hit Netflix series The Crown, also addressed missing out on several accolades for his critically-acclaimed performance.
He insisted that he doesn’t harbour any bitterness, but has felt disappointed by the snubs, confessing that it ‘stings’.
‘But it stings for a nanosecond. It isn’t important,’ he added. ‘Claire won everything. My award was the absolutely beautiful and gracious things she said about me in her speeches.’
