A Grammy-nominated singer has become the latest casualty on the RuPaul’s Drag Race runway, as she was named as the second star to sashay away from the celebrity spin-off.

The performer, who went by the drag persona Electra Owl, therefore had her identity unveiled… and fans have praised the eliminated competitor as a ‘legend’.

In the second episode, Electra Owl performed a lip sync to Donna Summer’s Last Dance, landing in the bottom two opposite Thirsty von Trap, as Poppy Love was named the winner of the week.

However, in the end it wasn’t enough to keep her in the competition, and she was unmasked as Tell It To My Heart singer Taylor Dayne, as revealed in Metro.co.uk’s exclusive UK first look images.

Taylor underwent an epic drag transformation thanks to her Queen Supreme Brooke Lynn Hytes, wearing a stunning one-shoulder, floor-length gown with a thigh split embroidered with mirrored embellishments.

She wore a blonde, bouffant wig with a stellar quiff, and topped it off with peacock-esque royal blue eye makeup.

During her lip sync performance, she was surrounded by shirtless male dancers wearing spangly gold, skintight trousers and brown boots, which fuelled her image as an absolute queen.

Several fans watching guessed her identity in advance, with one admitting they previously thought she was Stevie Nicks.

‘Wow, I thought Taylor Dayne was WAY too obvious a guess, guess I was right,’ one person tweeted.

‘Tell It to My Heart is one of my favorites songs from all time, Taylor Dayne you are a legend,’ another viewer wrote about the 1987 classic.

A few people confessed that they didn’t know who Taylor was or what she looked like, but did recognise her music after doing a little search through her repertoire.

‘It’s crazy how many Taylor Dayne songs I know and never seen her before until #celebdragrace,’ someone remarked.

This isn’t the first time Taylor has gone on a TV show where she’s had to conceal her identity and perform to the masses.

In 2020, the American Music Award winner appeared on The Masked Singer in the US as Popcorn, making it to the semi-finals ahead of LeAnn Rimes’ victory.

RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race is available to stream on WOW Presents Plus with new episodes released on Saturdays in the UK. Tickets are now on sale for RuPaul’s DragCon UK 2023, which are available here.
