The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp tease wild upcoming HBO drama The Idol with steamy new trailer: ‘From the gutters of Hollywood’-Meghna Amin-Entertainment – Metro

HBO has dropped a new trailer for The Weeknd’s upcoming drama The Idol, which stars the likes of Lily-Rose Depp and looks to be even raunchier than we first thought.

Promised to be ‘the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood,’ the new teaser adds in: ‘That’s sex, that’s what we’re selling,’ as Lily-Rose and The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, are ready to party alongside Mike Dean, Dan Levy and Hari Nef.

New cast members Moses Sumney and Red Rocket’s Suzanna Son also feature in the 90-second clip, along with Blackpink’s Jennie, Da’vine Joy Randolph and Hank Azar.

The show is ‘set against the backdrop of the music industry’ and ‘centres on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult, who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol’.

The Weeknd originally debuted the first trailer during the opening night of his After Hours Til Dawn tour in July, while the second teaser dropped during his Las Vegas concert last night.

If you thought the original trailer had it all – from characters taking drugs, stripping off, stripping off and getting steamy in the bedroom – wait till you see the new one, where there’s even more scandalous activity.

From raunchy outfits to partying all night, Lily-Rose’s character, Jocelyn, takes on all the Hollywood drama of an up-and-coming star – storming her way through a record office, exercising outside her mansion and living ‘from the gutters of Hollywood.’

Elsewhere, she’s up partying all night, dancing in cars zooming through Hollywood, and unloading with a cigarette in a sauna.

It sure promises to be a wild ride.

In one tense moment from the original trailer, The Weeknd’s character is seen asking Lily-Rose’s character: ‘Why don’t you just be yourself?’

To which she replies: ‘Because there’s nothing about me that’s relatable.’

The minute-long clip continues with more of the same scandalous activity, before The Weeknd’s character asks his love interest: ‘Do you trust me?’, to which she replies: ‘Not really.’

The Idol comes to HBO Max later this year.
