Love Island fans have accused Pretty Little Thing of ‘using Indiyah Polack’ for social engagement before signing Gemma Owen.
The international dressage rider, 19, was confirmed as the latest ambassador for the popular online retailer on Monday morning and hailed her new venture as ‘a dream come true.’
‘The team has been amazing and I’m excited to get to work and start designing some collections for you all,’ she said.
However, following the announcement, the fast-fashion company has come under fire after fans brought up the poll asking who would be the ‘perfect PLT doll,’ between Indiyah and Gemma – in which Indiyah received thousands of votes.
‘Idk I just feel like Indiyah should have got the PLT deal considering she won in their poll over who should get a PLT deal,’ one person tweeted.
‘What’s killing me is that they did a poll and indiyah won but they still went with gemma, hopefully indiyah declined,’ another added.
‘It doesn’t matter if Gemma is the most popular on TikTok, if that’s what they were going for then why would they ask who they think is best suited for them just to disregard people’s opinions. They should’ve hyped Gemma up from the start and not use Indiyah for clout and engagements,’ a third person wrote.
Indiyah and boyfriend Dami Hope left the ITV2 competition show in third place during the epic finale, which saw Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti crowned the winners and take home the £50,000 prize.

While the two are the only finalists to not be officially together, the international dressage rider introduced Luca to her family.

Gemma opened up about it on Capital FM, saying there were ‘no updates’ on their relationship status yet, but adding they ‘definitely’ want to move in together in the future.
