Halo Infinite Extraction mode leak has fans thinking the Flood are coming back-Michael Beckwith-Entertainment – Metro

Datamined voice lines for Halo Infinite’s Extraction mode may be alluding to the parasitic Flood species making an appearance.
While there’s been no official confirmation from 343 Industries, there are enough leaks to suggest that Halo Infinite will receive an Extraction gameplay mode in the future.
Beyond that though, we know little else about it. A recent datamine, however, has some thinking it could involve fighting against the Flood, the parasitic antagonists of the original Halo trilogy.
The datamine has unearthed announcer voice lines that are clearly for the Extraction mode, given how often they say the word ‘extraction’.
Although they don’t mention the Flood by name, they do say the words ‘spore mound,’ ‘infection,’ and ‘parasite;’ all of which sound like they’re in reference to the Flood.
This theory is further supported by the fact that the Extraction mode looks to pit players against computer-controlled enemies rather than each other.
Only this week, another leak claimed that the Extraction mode is currently being playtested, sharing an in-game screenshot that lists it as Extraction PvE.
It’s worth noting that somebody managed to get the Extraction mode working themselves (possibly through datamining) several months ago and posted footage online.
Instead of the Flood, the enemies were just regular Spartan soldiers and didn’t show any signs of being infected. That said, the footage is of an unfinished mode that isn’t publicly available, so it’s possible that some details will be completely different once the mode is officially added to the game.
The series has featured multiplayer modes involving the Flood before, with Halo 4 tweaking the series’ Infection mode so, instead of zombies, players would be converted into Flood soldiers. That mode, however, was PvP.
Halo 4 also had it’s own Extraction mode, but so far it’s the only one. That mode was also PvP and saw two teams planting and protecting beacons around a map to extract assets, and didn’t feature the Flood at all.

Judging from the leaks, Halo Infinite’s Extraction mode looks to operate almost identically, aside from the fact that it’s PvE this time.
Without any sort of content roadmap, it’s impossible to tell when the mode will be added to the game. At the moment, 343 is still testing the campaign co-op, a feature that was noticeably missing from Halo Infinite at launch and has been delayed multiple times.
Halo Infinite is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
