The Voice UK is seemingly not going anywhere for the near future as ITV is ‘committed’ to keeping the series going, it’s been reported.

This comes months after the broadcaster shut down claims that the show could be facing the axe, having now aired for over a decade.

The talent competition – which stars Anne-Marie, Sir Tom Jones, Olly Murs and will.i.am as judges – is set to return for a new season this September.

While applications for the 2023 show were already advertised earlier this year, there has been some speculation that The Voice UK was facing its final days.

A source pointed out that after ITV confirmed that ‘they had given X Factor the chop’, it was ‘inevitable that many saw this as the beginning of the end for telly talent contests’.

Speaking to The Sun, they added that The Voice UK being on TV for a decade ‘is a great innings for any entertainment show’.

‘Of course that doesn’t mean that its future is entirely secure. ITV bosses are likely to mull over viewing figures for the upcoming series before making any long-term decisions,’ they continued.

‘But ITV are clearly committed to it continuing in the short term.’

In April, a source for the series informed Metro.co.uk that there was ‘absolutely no truth’ to the reports that the show was going to be dropped.

Earlier this year, it was reported that The Voice UK’s 2022 season would have no live shows in a huge shake-up, with each episode instead being pre-recorded.

It was claimed that this move was made in order to save costs, with the final also being pre-filmed as a result of the decision.

What’s more, the new series will also feature a brand new element added to the format called The Callbacks.

This will see contestants who made it through the Blind Auditions battle it out against each other in the hope that they’ll earn themselves a spot in the semi-final stage of the contest.

The eventual winner will secure a recording contract with Universal’s label UMOD.

Last year, Craig Eddie – who had Anne-Marie as his coach – was crowned the victor.

Metro.co.uk has contacted ITV for comment.

The Voice UK returns to ITV and ITV Hub in September 2022.
