The latest trailer for the upcoming season of The Handmaid’s Tale shows June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) once again in danger with nemesis Serena Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski) bloodthirsty for revenge.
The fourth season of the dystopian drama ended with an explosive finale, which saw June finally take matters into her own hands and kill Commander Fred Waterford (Joseph Fiennes).
June had enlisted a mob of former Handmaids to murder her former captor from when she was in his service in Gilead.
The trailer opens with June disclosing exactly how she felt carrying out the murder, calling the Commander ‘a monster’.
She goes on: ‘The founding father of Gilead. He took away our country and he had to pay for what he did.’
Sitting on a stall in stark room with anger running through her veins, June tells her husband Luke Bankole (OT Fagbenle): ‘He had to pay for what he did. I killed him and loved it so much.’

Back at their home later in the trailer with a look of sheer determination, June tells Luke: ‘I need her to know it was me,’ referring to Serena learning who was behind the murder plot.
Aghast, Luke says: ‘Do you want her to come after us?’
In the midst of grief, and crying over her husband’s corpse, Serena vows to avenge his death, adding: ‘There’s no way she could have done it on her own.’
Despite being warned the widow is ‘dangerous’, June looks unfazed as she prepares for battle, adding: ‘She will always be dangerous.’

And that’s not the only warning June receives.
Her lover Nick Blaine (Max Minghella) tells her earnestly: ‘Gilead wants to see you suffer. You have to keep yourself safe.’
But June isn’t the only one to feel the fear as Serena is heard screaming: ‘Don’t you dare try to tell me you can protect me from her!’
Who do you think will win the war?
The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 airs from September 14 in the US on Hulu.
