Towie star Yazmin Oukhellou has opened up about the challenges of her healing process following a fatal car crash that killed her boyfriend Jake McLean.

The reality star, 28, has jetted off to Morocco for a relaxing holiday where she can recuperate after suffering serious injuries in the accident.

Her on/off partner McLean died at the age of 33 in July after their car crashed in Turkey. Yazmin was also in the vehicle and had to break her own arm to free herself, before flagging down a passerby for help and being rushed to hospital.

While still in the grieving process and healing from her physical injuries, Yazmin decided to catch some sun in Marrakech.

Alongside photos of her reading a book in a swimming pool, the reality star wrote in the caption: ‘Healing is NOT an overnight process. It takes time. Sometimes you’ll feel like you’re finally getting over something & happy again, and then the wound will reopen when you least expect it. Don’t give up, don’t get discouraged.

‘Take each day 1 step at a time. Just try to be in a better place mentally, emotionally and spiritually than you were yesterday.’

She added: ‘I’ve come back to my second home after what I’ve been through and tried to centre myself. When those days hit me where I feel like giving up, I practice gratitude and give thanks to even the smallest of things and it really does help. Love Yaz.’

McLean was laid to rest at a funeral service in Essex on August 16, more than a month after the crash.

His ex-girlfriend Lauren Goodger was among mourners, as well as Towie star James Argent.

Hours after the service, Yazmin paid tribute to her late boyfriend in a heartfelt Instagram post.

She told her followers: ‘I have been taking some time away from social media to fully focus on my mental and physical recovery. I needed this time away to work on healing and processing everything as best as I can.

‘This has taught me that life is so short and we must cherish our loved ones as much as possible.

‘I am so grateful for our memories and the special time that Jake and I shared. I’ve not stopped thinking about him and I’ll miss him always. He will forever hold a special place in my heart. 🙏🤍👼

‘I want to thank everyone for their support and lovely messages. I truly appreciate each and every single one of you. 🙏.’

Yazmin and McLean had been in a relationship on and off since 2019 after she broke up with her long-term partner James Lock.
