Darius Campbell Danesh’s funeral held in Scotland after death aged 41 with close friend Gerard Butler among mourners-Alicia Adejobi-Entertainment – Metro

Darius Campbell Danesh has been laid to rest in a private funeral in his native Scotland, according to reports.
The late Pop Idol star was pronounced dead on August 11 at the age of 41 after being found unresponsive in his apartment in Minnesota.
It appears his body has been repatriated to his hometown of Glasgow and a private funeral held on Thursday.
Around 100 mourners were reportedly in attendance to pay their respects to the beloved entertainer.
As guests watched the procession, a lone piper is said to have played the Caledonia.
According to The Sun, the late star’s close friend, fellow Scot and Hollywood actor Gerard Butler was among mourners in attendance.

Last week, PS I Love You actor Butler spoke out about the singer’s death for the first time, paying tribute in a heartbreaking letter shared on social media.
‘My thoughts and love go to his wonderful mum and dad Avril and Booth and his two brilliant brothers Aria and Cyrus,’ he wrote on Instagram.
Butler, 52, said that anyone who met the Colourblind hitmaker were ‘deeply moved by his infectious laugh and barely containable zest for life’.
‘He was always armed with a smile, a booming voice, and a genuinely warm embrace that few could resist-nor would they want to!!!’ the actor said fondly.

The 300 star went on to remember the singer’s ‘incredible talent’, with a voice that ‘touched your soul’, as well as being ‘an actor with great presence’.
‘But, most importantly, he had the heart of a lion. It was bigger and brighter than the sun and an energy so contagious he could light up a room in seconds,’ Butler said.
‘He had such purity of thought, a deep wisdom and constant gratitude for people, for life, a compassion towards all,’ the Den of Thieves star added, honouring Campbell Danesh’s ‘hilarious self-deprecating sense of humour’, which ‘allowed him to stay humble’.
Butler concluded: ‘My heart aches heavily. But going forward, I will beat my drum louder and celebrate life and its every beautiful moment because my brother showed me that was a pretty awesome way to go about it.’
Many other tributes poured in from the showbiz world, with Simon Cowell, Will Young and Gareth Gates among those to pass on their condolences.
Campbell Danesh was found dead in his apartment in Rochester, Minnesota, his family said, and his cause of death remains unknown.
Announcing the devastating news, a statement from his family read: ‘It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darius Campbell Danesh.
‘Darius was found unresponsive in bed in his apartment room in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11 and was pronounced dead in the afternoon by the local medical examiners’ office.
‘The local police department have confirmed that there were no signs of intent or suspicious circumstances. The cause of his sudden death is unknown at this stage while medical examinations continue.
‘We ask that you kindly respect our wishes for privacy at this time whilst we come to terms with the tragic loss of our son and brother.’
