I’m a fashion whizz, six things you need to remove from your wardrobe now & how to transform an old jumper

WITH Autumn just around the corner, there’s never been a better time to organise your wardrobe and get it ready for the new season.

Luckily, there’s help at hand as a fashion whizz has revealed the items we should all remove from our closet to give it that much-needed refresh.

Kelly McCoyd, who shares style tips and hacks on her TikTok account @kellymccoyd, posted a video titled ‘6 items you NEED to clean out of your closet.’

She then began her recommendations, starting out with the shoes hiding at the bottom of your wardrobe.

Kelly explained: “Look over your shoes, especially the fall styles.

“Get rid of scuffed or damaged shoes that can’t be fixed by a shoe cobbler.”

Next, Kelly said it was important to focus on your clothes and the condition.

The style fan continued: “Look over your clothes. Pills, pulls, stains or missing buttons? Get rid of damaged items that can’t be fixed.”

The third item on Kelly’s agenda was to stop waiting to be able to fit into any items – as the time may not come.

She said: “Take out any items that don’t fit (too small or too big) or that you don’t feel comfortable/ confident wearing.”

“If you’re not ready to get rid of something, at least move it to another closet or place in storage so you have less clutter and a clear view of items you want to wear.”

Fourth up was to look closely at your clothes and “take out any items that don’t fit your current style needs” – for instance if you have started a new job with a different dress code or have lots of glam clothes but go out less.

The fifth tip leads on from this and relates to changing and evolving style, meaning you should get rid of anything that no longer suits what you would wear.

Finally, if there is anything in your wardrobe that you haven’t worn for 6-12 months, it’s time to part with it.

Kelly concluded: “Focus on keeping pieces you love and wear. It may be a great item that someone else will love wearing rather than going unworn in your closet.”
