Law and Order Special Victims Unit (SVU) co-creator David Graziano responded to Kelli Giddish’s shocking exit after being targeted by angry fans.
The 42-year-old actress starred as Detective Amanda Rollins in the NBC drama for more than a decade, making her debut as the iconic character in 2011.
However, she confirmed on Instagram that she will be leaving the role behind in the upcoming 24th season, which left several fans devastated.
Addressing speculation surrounding her departure, she shared a statement on her Instagram page, which read: ‘I wanted to address the chatter I’ve seen online and let everyone know that this will, indeed, be my last season on Law & Order: SVU.
Following the news, executive producer David felt the wrath of devoted viewers, and responded to the angry comments underneath Kelli’s post.
‘You might take a moment to entertain the idea that things are more complex than they appear in a world of emojis and tweets,’ he penned.

But good news for everyone, writer Julie Martin teased a satisfying outing for Kelli’s character.
‘Rollisi will have a happy ending. Stay tuned,’ she tweeted.
