Robbie Williams is the latest star to get the Netflix documentary treatment, with cameras following the pop icon around as he navigates the highs and the lows of being in the limelight.

The as-yet-untitled docuseries was announced at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Thursday, with the global streamer sharing an exclusive clip of what fans of the Take That star can expect.

In the footage to promote the upcoming multi-part show, the 48-year-old strips naked before lounging in the buff as he declares himself, jokingly, as a ‘gift from God.’

If that doesn’t give you enough of a flavour of the doc, it is directed by Joe Pearlman, who was behind the epic and hilarious Bros documentary After The Screaming Stops.

Meanwhile, Asif Kapadia, best known for his hit films about Amy Winehouse, Ayrton Senna and Diego Maradona, executive produces.

As well as the Angels singer’s current antics, the show will feature 25 years’ worth of never-before-seen archive and intimate footage, covering everything from adulation to addiction and professional and personal break-ups.

Netflix, which revealed it will launch in 2023, promised viewers it will be an ‘unfiltered, in-depth examination’ of Robbie’s life in the limelight.

Presumably, the project will also shine a light on Robbie’s relationship with wife Ayda Field, with whom he settled down with in 2006.

Four years later the pair tied the knot and Robbie is still a happily married man with four children, sharing Theodora, 10, Charlton, seven, Coco, three and Beau, two, with Ayda.

Robbie revealed recently that commitment was a novelty for him after years of being one of pop’s most eligible bachelors, but Ayda had changed his ways.

‘[It’s] amazing for somebody built like me – to put it in vulgar terms – a sh**ger. She gives me everything I want,’ the Angels singer explained.

He continued to Grazia magazine: ‘I don’t mean sex-wise. My thing in the 90s was sex with strangers, I didn’t know whether I’d be able to give that up. I was saying to her last night, it’s really special that we’re around a lot of really good looking people, all the way through the summer – and I feel no longing to be up to the nefarious stuff.

‘She’s really empathetic, really kind, incredibly smart and very, very funny – and I trust her. The thing with sex with other people is very much like cocaine. I’m not looking for cocaine anymore and therefore I don’t find it.’
