The Walking Dead star Jeffrey Dean Morgan is about to swap zombies for horny sea animals in the brilliantly bonkers show The Boys.
The Amazon Prime drama follows a group of corrupt superheros who abuse their powers, known as The Seven, while The Boys are a team of vigilantes determined to keep their misbehaviour in check.
It’s not known what team the Supernatural star will side with (if any), with details about his character being kept strictly under wraps, but he has been brought on board as a returning guest star, according to Deadline.
The man himself confirmed the news on Twitter in a flurry of thrilled posts in response to the series’ stars Jack Quaid and Karl Urban, who couldn’t contain their excitement.
Jeffrey replied ‘Let’s GOOO!!’ to Jack’s tweet sharing the casting announcement, while he wrote: ‘Man!! I can’t wait!! We gonna PLAY!!’ to Karl’s tweet.
It has been a long time coming for the 56-year-old, with the actor teasing he would join the show back in 2020.
Two years ago showrunner Eric Kripke thanked the actor for supporting The Boys on social media, adding: ‘I’ll make you a deal. Season 3. I’ll write it, and if you’re avail, come shoot it!’

Jeffrey replied: ‘In a heartbeat!’
Mere months later Eric confirmed the two had been texting ‘back and forth’.
‘He has to, uh, we have to like coordinate. Because you know, he’s on The Walking Dead, so he has another home. But we already talked about one role, and there might be a potential other that we’re talking about,’ he told Collider.
But The Walking Dead fans do not have to fear yet as Jeffrey, who plays villain Negan in the post-apocolyptic drama, will not be departing the show’s universe just yet.

As well as appearing in the 11th and final season right now, the performer will reprise his role in the upcoming spin-off series Dead City.
Jeffrey recently hit out at viewers who subjected his co-star Melissa McBride to ‘toxic’ online abuse after she announced she would no longer appear in the spin-off due to filming commitments.

‘Some of you have gone WAY too far,’ he seethed.
‘TOXIC. Attacking norm for c**p he has NOTHING to do with? Melissa made a call that was hers alone. She wants/needs a break. Respect that.’
The Walking Dead is available to watch on Disney Plus, while The Boys is on Amazon Prime.
