Adele Roberts reveals ‘scary’ stoma prolapse left her ‘colon hanging out’: ‘I was freaking out’-Kim Novak-Entertainment – Metro
She reassured fans it wasn’t as scary as it looked.

Adele Roberts has shared her ordeal after finding her stoma had suddenly prolapsed, preventing her from going to Scott Mills’ Radio 1 leaving do.
The presenter, 43, had been diagnosed with bowel cancer in October 2021, for which she was fitted with a stoma after having surgery and chemotherapy, being given the all-clear that she was ‘cancer free’ in June 2022.
She took to her Instagram story to tell her followers that she was having trouble with her stoma, which she nicknamed ‘Audrey’, which had prolapsed – which is when the bowel protrudes through the stomal opening in the skin to a greater extent than it is supposed to – on the day Scott Mills was leaving Radio 1.
Adele explained: ‘Another day another Audrey bit of mischief. My stoma’s prolapsed today.’
She used the handle of an umbrella to show her followers how much the stoma had protruded from the opening that had been made in the stomach, adding: ‘I’ve got to go and have a shower now, get this elephant trunk out, put ice on it.
‘That’s one thing that makes it go down, or apparently sprinkle it with sugar, that’s what I’ve seen on the internet and then if not, I’m going to have to ring my stoma nurse Elaine and tell her what Audrey’s been up to. Naughty Audrey!’

Adele joked that the reason it had prolapsed was because she was so sad Scott was leaving the station after 24 years.
The former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here star then shared photos and videos of her with a tissue over the stoma and a pile of sugar on top, hoping that it would cause it to retract back inside.
She and fiancée Kate Holderness then updated fans that the sugar trick had worked and the stoma was back where it was supposed to be.
Adele reassured other fans not to ‘freak out’ if it happens to them despite it looking ‘so scary’ and comparing it to Jack The Ripper having pulled her intestines out.

She added: ‘It’s the most grotesque thing I’ve ever seen and I want to show you, we filmed it to show you but we know we can’t put that on the internet because it will just freak people out and especially people with stomas, I don’t want you to worry.’
Kate added: ‘It’s not a scary thing but it looks really scary.’
Adele added in a caption: ‘If you’d have told me a year ago I’d be sugaring my colon I wouldn’t have believed you! Audrey’s at it again – why have I got the naughtiest stoma alive?!

‘I would show you what a prolapsed stoma looks like… but I’ve just watched the footage back and I wouldn’t want to alarm anyone. It is actually quite shocking to be fair… but I think it’s also important to share – I didn’t know this could happen.
‘I was freaking out and very scared but thanks to others sharing their stories online, I’ve realised it’s quite common and looks worse than it is.
‘Thanks so much to everyone sending advice today and please call your #stoma nurse immediately or seek medical advice if the same happens to you.’
She joked: ‘How am I going to tell Scott Mills I couldn’t go to his leaving party because my colon was hanging out?’
