Fans are currently counting down the hours until Married At First Sight UK series two graces the screen.

The second chapter will see a slight change to the format, with all 16 contestants moving in together after the nuptials, taking inspiration from the Australian version of the show.

Relationship experts Mel Schilling, Paul C. Brunson, and Charlene Douglas will return to the series to guide the newlyweds through the experience.

The official plot summary of the series reads: ‘The bold social experiment where single people, matched by experts, marry total strangers, who they meet for the very first time on their wedding day.’ Once married, the newlyweds head off on their honeymoon before moving in together.

While we prepare for another series from the UK cast, the Australian edition wrapped up its ninth season earlier in the year, and although some couples didn’t get their happily ever after, others flourished and are still together to this day.

Adam Aveling and Tayah Victoria

Tayah and Adam were one of the few couples who managed to find love on the show.

‘It honestly feels like we’ve been together for years and years and years,’ Adam said during the reunion episode, while Tayah added: ‘I’ve been the luckiest person ever.’

As of August 2022, the couple were living in Doncaster, and announced earlier in April that they were expecting their first child.

Tayah told OK!: ‘We’re so excited. And the thing is we weren’t even trying! It just happened. I can’t believe it. We’re obviously just very fertile.’

Erin Bateman and Bryce Mohr

Erin and Bryce wed in 2016 during season two of Married At First Sight Australia.

The pair, who will be celebrating their seventh wedding anniversary later this year, confused fans after they skipped last year’s reunion special.

Erin and Bryce have kept their relationship out of the spotlight since their appearance on the reality show.

During an interview on The D&M podcast in 2020, Erin explained: ‘I’m sure it infuriates a lot of people that they’re not kept in the loop because the nature of reality TV is you then go on to flaunt your whole life on social media. I don’t think it’s normal.

‘The Bryce I got the day that I met him is the Bryce I have today. He hasn’t changed at all. He is exactly who he is, and I’d like to think he feels the same about me.’

Daniel McKee and Matthew Jameson

Dan and Matt are still together, after the pair declared their love for each other on the show.

At the reunion, Dan said: ‘We actually haven’t set a date on when to settle down, I think that creates an excitement in the relationship’ – while Matt added on the topic of future children: ‘We’re going to take our time with it.’

One of the biggest challenges the pair faced during the series was deciding where to live, with Dan strongly favouring his native Northern Ireland and Matt liking hometown Leeds.

In April 2022, The Belfast Telegraph confirmed that Matt had moved to Northern Ireland to be with Dan – and in July, the latter said going on the show was the ‘best decision’.

Before appearing on the show, Daniel said: ‘It’s amazing to be one half of the first gay couple.’

‘Gay marriage has only been legalised very recently in Northern Ireland, which is absolutely shocking. And, now that I can share my relationship with the world, I find that so important.’

Bryce Ruthven and Melissa Rawson

Although fans weren’t convinced by their compatibility, Bryce and Melissa are still going strong.

Bryce and Melissa’s appearance on the series sparked criticism, after viewers believed the couple displayed ‘an excessive amount of [domestic violence] signs which are not being handled by the network appropriately’.

More than 15,000 shared their shock by signing the petition.

‘These signs are being disregarded by producers and the network and Melissa is being subjected to mental torture, very obviously to the viewer, creating a distressing viewing experience, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO ARE VICTIMS OF DV [domestic violence] RELATIONSHIP,’ the petition description read.

The show’s executive producer John Walsh issued a statement denying the pair’s relationship was ‘characterised by domestic violence’ and insisted producers uphold a high level of care for those on the show.

Melissa and Bryce welcomed twins in October last year, after announcing their engagement in July.

Cam Merchant and Jules Robinson

In season six of MAFS Australia,Jules and Cam met and wed in the very first episode.

And much to the delight of fans, the couple has since gone from strength to strength, staying married and welcoming their son, Oliver Chase Merchant, in October last year.

Their chemistry was so captivating it even left fellow reality star Jessika Power convinced the pair had already met before the show.

‘There’s no way you’re going to meet a complete stranger, do everything that we did, and completely love that person, every aspect,’ she told Metro.co.uk.

While Jules was flattered by the theory, she insisted it wasn’t true and said: ‘Well give me an Oscar if that’s the point. Take me to Hollywood.’

Jukes, 40, recently announced that she’s signed a book deal with publishers Simon & Schuster, and is set to release her autobiography.

Married At First Sight UK returns to E4 at 9pm on Monday August 29.
