Married At First Sight UK finally returns tonight on E4, so here’s everything you need to know about the programme’s 3 dedicated dating experts.

MAFS UK is back with another explosive series debut following more singletons about to take the plunge into marriage when they meet for the first time at the altar.

Charlene, 41, Paul, 47, and Mel, 50, are the love gurus who will be presiding over a brand new batch of contestants this year.

The latest line-up of 16 singles has been announced and includes two same-sex couples, one of which is the show’s first-ever lesbian couple.

But while the show focuses on the contestants, the three dating experts are also vital to the process.

Let’s get to know the trio who helped put together your latest obsession.

Mel Schilling

Mel Schilling has been a romance coach on the explosive Aussie edition of Married At First Sight since 2016 and was drafted in last year to help with the UK version.

The love guru, 50, has worked as a qualified specialist in human behavioural performance and purpose for over two decades.

She graduated from the University of Melbourne in psychology, and says she is passionate about ‘educating, motivating and inspiring people to be their best.’

As well as a relationship expert, she also works as a coach, speaker, TV presenter and consultant, and also runs a blog, writing about everything from body acceptance advice to getting through life following the global pandemic.

Mel is married to her husband Gareth Brisbane, who is originally from Northern Ireland. They married on December 24, 2020, after meeting on the dating website eHarmony.

Gareth runs an online betting business, and the pair are parents to seven-year-old daughter Maddie, who was conceived with the help of IVF.

Paul C. Brunson

Paul also appeared on Celebs Go Dating with (L-R) Tom Read Wilson and Anna Williamson (Picture: Channel 4)

On his website, Paul, who is from the US, describes himself as ‘the world’s most influential matchmaker’.

He has a degree in business and started his career as an analyst at an investment bank before starting his matchmaking firm PCB Agency in 2009.

Before MAFS UK, he replaced Eden Blackman on Celebs Go Dating in 2018, and previously appeared as a co-host on Oprah Winfrey’s show Lovetown.

Elsewhere, Paul has featured on the US shows Oprah Winfrey Network, Good Morning America, The TODAY Show and The Wendy Williams Show.

Paul and his wife Jill have been married for over 20 years, and also work together as matchmakers and have two sons together, Liam and Kingston.

The pair met at Old Dominion University in Virginia, USA before tying the knot in 2000.

Charlene Douglas

Charlene is one of London’s leading sex coaches and relationship counsellors and says on her website: ‘I strongly believe that intimacy is a key part of a healthy life. Every hug, kiss, or touch triggers an emotional connection and strengthens relationships. Sex can be so much more than just a physical act.’

She has offered sex and relationship counselling for over 11 years and joined the team of MAFS last year.

While Mel and Paul work as the chief matchmakers, Charlene aims to help the Married at First Sight couples as they acclimatise to their new relationships and get to know their partners on a more intimate level.

Speaking about her new role as the time, Charlene said: ‘I am delighted to be joining this new series of Married at First Sight UK. This is a brand-new role for the show and it is important to remember that these couples have just met and are going to be getting to know each other quickly.

‘I’m really looking forward to getting to know them all and digging deeper into their relationships and finding new ways for them to connect on a more intimate level. It’s also really interesting to bring my knowledge alongside the expertise of Mel and Paul. As a trio, I think we will make a really great team.’
