The Masked Singer to collide with I’m A Celebrity in one-off special and we’re so ready-Jess Bacon-Entertainment – Metro

In a strange turn of events, The Masked Singer is set to crossover with I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here for a one-off special this autumn.
The two ITV shows will collide as I’m A Celebrity contestants dress up in extravagant outfits – inspired by Australian culture, naturally – while the panel and audience tries to guess who is behind the mask.
The programme is set to celebrate I’m A Celeb’s return to Australia this year, after a two-year hiatus where Ant and Dec hosted the show from Wales due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Celebrities will try and impress the panel of Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan and some unnamed special guests.
Former jungle campmate, and regular host, Joel Dommett will return to steer this TV anomaly.
Katie Rawcliffe, ITV’s Head of Entertainment Commissioning said: ‘What a perfect way to celebrate the return of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! than with a unique mash up of two hugely successful series.

‘Viewers will get to enjoy all things Jungle with a wonderfully bonkers Masked Singer twist.
‘With flamboyant costumes that pay homage to the iconic series as it returns to Australia, families will be able to play alongside our panel in TV’s favourite guessing game.’
Bandicoot Scotland founders Derek McLean and Daniel Nettleton revealed that performing on the Masked Singer might be more of an endurance test than the jungle and those Bushtucker trials.

‘The celebrities may think the jungle is an endurance test but singing on national TV dressed head to toe in a giant costume is no mean feat,’ they said.
‘They may not be playing to win food for their campmates but they will have to hone their singing skills as they attempt to fool the panel and keep them in the dark.
‘With costumes that reflect all things Jungle, this is definitely a show viewers won’t want to miss.’
The I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here special of The Masked Singer will be released on ITV and ITV Hub in the autumn.
