Former Nickelodeon stars have spoken out against producer Dan Schneider for allegedly forcing the young actors into ‘sexualised’ scenes.

Victorious actress Daniella Monet claimed that a scene that she was uncomfortable with was left in the final cut of an episode despite her objections to the network.

Monet, 33, who played Trina Vega on the show, placed blame on both Schneider, who was the creator, executive producer, and a writer on the show, as well as Nickelodeon for allowing sexualised scenes to appear across shows and for inappropriate behaviour to take place while on set, a report from Insider revealed.

The children’s programme, which ran from 2010 to 2013, starred the likes of Ariana Grande and Victoria Justice.

Monet said that concerns about a scene she featured in in the show, which saw her character eat a pickle while applying lip gloss, was too sexualised.

‘Do I wish certain things, like, didn’t have to be so sexualised?’ she said. ‘Yeah. A hundred percent.’

She added that most of the show was ‘very PC, funny, silly, friendly, chill,’ however, the ‘male-dominated writers’ room’ could result in some ‘hypersexualised scenes.’

Monet also claimed she was forced to wear clothes that were ‘not age appropriate’.

Insider’s report also references a scene where Jamie Lynn Spears appeared in Zoey 101 which Schneider allegedly created, executive produced, co-wrote, and had a guest appearance on.

The scene saw the actress have goo ‘roughly the consistency of an egg white’ shot onto her face repeatedly.

Her costar Alexa Nikolas recalled one of her male costars referring to the scene as ‘like a c** shot’.

‘We’re talking about a minor,’ she said.

‘I think Jamie was 13, and they’re squirting stuff on her face.’

Russel Hicks, the former president of content and production at Nickelodeon, denied anything inappropriate was allowed on air.

‘Every single thing that Dan ever did on any of his shows was carefully scrutinized and approved,’ he said.

He also added that the Standards and Practices division read all of the scripts for Schneider’s shows and watched every episode and that young actors’ parents or guardians were on set while filming took place.

Last week, Nikolas protested outside of Nickelodeon’s Burbank offices with her organisation, Eat Predators.

The group aims to expose abuse in Hollywood and the music industry.

The allegations follow the release of Jennette McCurdy’s new best-selling memoir (Picture: Philip Cheung for The Washington Post via Getty Images)

‘It shouldn’t be a woman having to trail blaze, it should be on the industry itself. … Because a predator’s gonna come and go — there’s always going to be a predator.’ she told Variety.

‘But if they don’t have a safe haven, then they can’t really perpetuate that abuse.’

These allegations have come to light following the release of iCarly and Sam & Cat star Jennette McCurdy’s best-selling memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died.

In it, the actress refers to a figure named The Creator.

thank you all for making I’m Glad My Mom Died a #1 New York Times bestseller in both print hardcovers & print + e-book combined for two weeks in a row !! i really can’t believe it and am trying to appreciate this moment as much as i can. pic.twitter.com/3QobBIOVUm

McCurdy, 30, claims The Creator pressured her into drinking alcohol while she was underage and subjected her to an unwanted massage.

She further claims he was ‘mean-spirited, controlling and terrifying’ and would make ‘grown men and women cry with his insults and degradation.’
