Chris Rock has been slammed by Nicole Brown Simpson’s sister after a joke the comedian told about her death.
Rock, 57, was performing in Phoenix as part of his on his Ego Death stand-up comedy tour when he told the crowd that he turned down hosting the Oscars again just months after Will Smith slapped him on live TV during the 2022 awards ceremony.
He said returning to host would be like asking Nicole Brown Simpson ‘to go back to the restaurant.’
The comment referred to the deaths of OJ Simpson’s ex Brown Simpson and restaurant waiter Ron Goldman.
Brown Simpson had forgotten her prescription glasses, which were found outside the entrance at the restaurant Goldman worked at. He found out that she had called the restaurant to retrieve them and he returned them to her home, with the pair later found dead at the property.
Her sister, Tanya Brown, took to Instagram to condemn Rock for the joke.

The mental health advocate, 51, branded the comments ‘beyond distasteful.
‘Nothing Is more lovely [than] to wake up on a Tuesday morning (Not) with TMZ calling you saying Chris Rock made a horrible “joke” about Nicole,’ she wrote.
She also said there was ‘nothing funny’ about his joke towards Jada Pinkett Smith, referencing his original Oscar night joke about the actress’ cropped haircut.
‘I always thought he was funny, but he crossed the line with this one,’ she continued.

‘In other words, Y’all!!!! Stop using my sister, OJ and Ron part of your cricking comedy act. There are families behind this tragedy!’
Rock has yet to respond to the comments made by Brown.
The comedian’s comments come months after I, Robot actor Smith slapped Rock on stage after he made a joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith’s alopecia, comparing her to GI Jane.
He later claimed he did not know Jada suffered from the disease.

Smith – who went on to win the best actor award at the same ceremony – has since been banned from the Oscars for 10 years.
He recently issued an apology video to Chris, saying he himself had been hurt both ‘psychologically and emotionally’ by the incident.
Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Chris Brown for comment.
