Get your dancing shoes ready.

The Masked Dancer is back with 13 more masked celebrities ready to hit the dancefloor in a bid to evade the judges from discovering their identity and take home the top prize.

The show began in 2021 to much success – and this time it’s in a primetime Saturday night slot which will see it compete against Strictly Come Dancing for viewers.

Joel Dommett will once again return to the stage as the show’s host alongside a star-studded panel of judges, and of course our mystery dancers.

But who won the first series of the show? There’s some big shoes to fill for our new competitors…

Who won the first series of The Masked Dancer?

The inaugural series of The Masked Dancer kicked off in 2021 based on the American TV show of the same name.

Twelve celebrities strapped on their dancing shoes – as well as some elaborate get-ups – across seven episodes where a star-studded panel of judges had to guess from a series of clues which celeb was under the costume.

After eluding the judges until the final, British gymnast Louis Smith took home the top prize as Carwash.

Actress, dancer, and singer Bonnie Langford, Squirrel, came in second place, while third place was nabbed by Take That’s Howard Donald as Zip.

The cast was completed by ice dancing legend Howard Dean, Eastenders star Tamzin Outhwaite, actor and model Kelly Brook, burlesque icon Dita Von Teese, Diversity dancer Jordan Banjo, Olympic ski jump legend Eddie the Eagle, singer Louise Redknapp, Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood, and radio presenter Zoe Ball.

When does series 2 of The Masked Dancer start?

The second series of The Masked Dancer begins on ITV on Saturday, September 3 at 6.30pm.

The show runs for 90 minutes, with the first batch of mystery celebrities showing off their footwork for the judging panel – who will be trying to guess, from the clues given, who is inside each of the costumes.

This year’s costumes have been revealed set to keep us guessing each week alongside the panel of celebrity judges.

The Masked Dancer judging panel features two of the Masked Singer regulars, Jonathan Ross and Davina McCall.

Oti Mabuse is also returning as a judge, after appearing on the panel in the first series of the show – while season two will also welcome Peter Crouch, who is stepping in as replacement for Mo Gilligan.

The Masked Dancer 2022 begins on ITV on Saturday, September 3 at 6.30pm.
