Fans are very worried, darling…

Don’t Worry Darling, body language expert unpacks Olivia Wilde, Harry Styles and Florence Pugh’s Venice premiere-Rishma Dosani-Entertainment – Metro

Don’t Worry Darling finally premiered at Venice Film Festival on Monday, with the star-studded cast reuniting on the red carpet in true style.

We can’t pretend that the psychological thriller has had the easiest journey to the big screen, with Shia LaBeouf’s early exit, coupled with rumors of a feud between director Olivia Wilde and lead star Florence Pugh making daily headlines.

As well as this, questions have been raised over whether or not Harry Styles decided to spit at Chris Pine as they took their seats for the screening, with video footage of spitgate making the rounds on Twitter.

Body language expert, Judi James, had her say on that ‘fascinating’ premiere, clueing Metro.co.uk in on signs we may have missed.

‘The dramas surrounding this movie seems to have made the off-camera scenes and body language almost as fascinating and jaw-dropping as the filmed stuff on the cinema screens,’ she told us.

‘Actors have traditionally acted out fake romances on the red carpet to plug a movie by making the fans think the acting is for real.

‘In a massive act of reverse psychology though, the rumored fallings-out and bitterness behind the cameras here could well boost sales as fans spend the movie trying to work out if there are any residue signs of alleged rifts visible on screen.’

Discussing spitgate, she suggested: ‘You can watch the clip where Harry takes his place next to a rather surprised-looking Chris Pine, without any conclusive analysis of what exactly occurred between the two men.

‘But there are also clips of Chris adopting a distanced eye expression and poker face as he sits listening to the movie being promoted.’

Judi also couldn’t get enough of Florence’s solo stint on the red carpet, when the Midsommar actress totally slayed in a stunning black dress, while Olivia rocked a ‘power pose’ in her yellow gown.

But did she see any hint of the rumored ‘behind-the-scenes clashes’ that the pair have been plagued by?

‘Florence clearly turns up to steal the show on the red carpet, posing solo like a total A-lister and then we can see Olivia performing the alpha power poses, with both hands on her hips in a challenging pit-baring pose, and with her emphatically raised chin looking defiant and singling her out as on-set leader,’ she continued.

Olivia ‘might have just been caught mid-word,’ Judi suggested (Picture: Rex)

‘There is a shot where Florence is laughing and enjoying herself in the background while Olivia’s face appears to be pulled into a sneer, but this looks like a “moment” that is misleading.

‘There is distance between the two women and Olivia seems too experienced to allow herself such an adolescent response deliberately. She might have just been caught mid-word.’

‘The red carpet line-up does look like a story in pictures, though. Olivia is in the middle with her arms out behind her actors to suggest a high status and affectionate presentation of them to the cameras,’ Judi added of the joint cast photos.

‘Chris and Sydney appear poker-faced again beside her, but Harry has adopted a pose with his arms down at his sides as though standing upright to attention. This singles him out as an individual character rather than one of a team here.

‘Florence, meanwhile, is near the end, posing primarily with Nick. There’s no exaggerated social distance to suggest she is avoiding the group, but she is turned more in Nick’s direction for the photos.’

There has been intense speculation surrounding the flick’s production, which was heightened when it was announced that Florence would only be promoting Don’t Worry Darling at Venice Film Festival.

She then skipped the pre-red carpet press conference, apparently due to filming commitments for Dune 2, before eventually rocking up to Venice with an Aperol Spritz in hand, like the icon she is.

Olivia attempted to quash rumors of a feud at the event, describing her leading actress as a ‘force’.

‘We are so grateful she is able to make it tonight [to the premiere] despite being in production,’ she vowed.

‘As for all the endless tabloid gossip and noise out there, the internet feeds itself. I don’t feel I need to contribute to it.

‘It’s sufficiently well-nourished.’

Don’t Worry Darling is released in cinemas on September 23.
