A House of the Dragon editor has claimed they were not properly credited for their ‘hard work’ on episodes of the hit show.

The Game of Thrones prequel, which has already been renewed for season two,  is based on the Fire and Blood novel by George RR Martin, set 300 years before the events of the worlds of Jon Snow and Arya Stark, and follows the Targaryen family history, starting right at the formation of Westeros.

The first episodes proved to be wildly popular, with the first breaking records after becoming the most watched premiere in HBO history.

But now an editor has spoken out about being left out of credits.

Selina MacArthur, who has worked on shows including Black Mirror and Adam Kay’s This Is Going To Hurt, took to Twitter to voice their frustration.

‘I spent 7 months editing Episodes 2 & 3 of #HouseoftheDragon I did leave the show early but the majority of my edit remained the same as I left it,’ they penned.

‘How disappointing not to be credited for my hard work.’

‘If you got paid, you received the same amount of credit for your work as everyone outside the entertainment industry does,’ one person replied.

Another commented: ‘That’s not cool. I saw ep 2 yesterday and was going to message you, then just saw ep3 and wondered if I’d see your name again. You did great work as usual. Hope you’re ok.’

Selina replied to one comment writing: ‘I didn’t finish the job and there was a lot of work done after I left but a large amount of my work remained. So in my opinion a joint credit would have been fair.’

This comes after news that the series’ co-showrunner and director Miguel Sapochnik is stepping down.

It’s said that the director is exiting after pouring three years of effort into the show, but will remain as an executive producer, while Ryan Condal will now be the sole showrunner on the series.

Alan Taylor, who directed various episodes of Game Of Thrones, will serve as director and executive producer and director of multiple episodes in season two.

Miguel confirmed the news in a statement, saying: ‘Working within the Thrones universe for the past few years has been an honor and a privilege, especially spending the last two with the amazing cast and crew of House of the Dragon.

‘I am so proud of what we accomplished with season 1 and overjoyed by the enthusiastic reaction of our viewers. It was incredibly tough to decide to move on, but I know that it is the right choice for me, personally and professionally. As I do so, though, I am deeply comforted to know that Alan will be joining the series.

Metro.co.uk has approached House of the Dragon representatives for comment.

House of the Dragon next airs on Monday from 2am on Sky Atlantic and NOW.
