Former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has revealed that he is ‘expecting’ his ex-band members to send him a ‘few texts’ upon the release of his upcoming album, Faith in the Future.

For the uninitiated, Louis rose to fame after being put together in a band on The X Factor with Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik.

The group broke fan’s hearts when they announced they were breaking up in 2015, and have all gone on with further careers in the spotlight, as singers and for Harry, as an actor including in upcoming films Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman.

Ahead of his sophomore album, Faith in the Future, being released later this year, Louis appeared on The One Show today, having recently returned from a world tour.

Answering a question on whether he gets support from the others when he releases new music, Louis admitted: ‘In terms of every single, probably not, but once the album comes out, I’ll be expecting a few texts definitely.’

He elsewhere spoke about how each of the five have branched into different music, saying: ‘All of us have embraced what we love musically,’ and adding that they always have had ‘different tastes’.

The 30-year-old also spoke about how leaving ‘a band the size of One Direction’ left him with ‘a lot of room for overthinking’ before he went on to release his music as a solo-artist.

He added that now touring on his own is ‘quite different’ to when he was with the band.

Speaking to Ronan Keating and Alex Jones, Louis said: ‘It’s hard to compare the two, the two do feel quite different.

‘I will say though, when you’re touring with the band you can only take credit for a quarter of what’s happening, or a fifth of what’s happening, being on stage and being able to take that all that credit for yourself as a solo artist – now that is an amazing feeling.’

This comes after Louis exclusively revealed to Metro’s Guilty Pleasures that he would love to join forces with the boys again.

‘It would be criminal for us not to. It’s easier to say this now, from the outside looking in, but it was such a big thing, such a massive part of all of our lives, I would be disappointed if we get to whatever age and we haven’t had that moment.

‘But it’s all speculative, there’s so many different things to consider within that. So, who knows, I’d be gutted if we didn’t,’ he admitted.

About keeping in touch with the boys, he added: ‘Definitely,’ continuing: ‘Maybe a couple of the lads would agree with me on this, I’d actually say that, you keep an eye on everything everyone’s doing, more than we actually keep in contact.

‘I’ve probably spoken to Niall two or three times this year, I bumped into him at Glastonbury, which was lovely, but what’s great about the relationship we have, you know, we’ve all got mates like this, it doesn’t matter how long we go without speaking, but when we see each other, it’s so f***ing nice. So, if I’m not in contact with them, I’m watching from afar, proud.’

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
