League of Legends players have been begging developers to bring Wild Rift’s pick order swap feature to the game… but it’s not happening any time soon.

Since developer Riot Games launched mobile app Wild Rift in 2020, many have compared it to League Of Legends on the PC, even though the two are not meant to be the same.

As a League Of Legends player it can be frustrating when you’re picking champions and you find yourself in the wrong place in the draft as the game starts.

For example, in League if you get first pick but you would rather go last – to try and outsmart the enemy team’s picks –  there’s no feature to trade your position with your teammates.

Wild Rift developer Kam ‘boourns’ Fung created pick order swap but it’s never been added to League Of Legends and finally he’s explained why…

Through a Reddit post, Fung explained that he had actually proposed the change when he was working on League’s champion select redesign, but the project was shelved as it would have been too complex.

‘It’s really more about the opportunity you have when rebuilding the game from scratch for a new audience. When we are looking at features, we often use a value/cost lens,’ he added.

At the end of champion selection on League, players have the option to trade characters if they’re not happy with their initial choice.

Fung claims that updating the game to include the pick order swap feature wouldn’t be as valuable for players in the current state of the game.

‘On Wild Rift we had to make some kind of trade function from scratch and updating to position trade didn’t cost any more,’ he explained.

Sadly, for some League players, Fung’s answer has crushed their hopes of enjoying the pick swap order feature on PC, although he hasn’t ruled it out entirely.
