Tonight’s cancelled episode of Celebrity MasterChef would have seen the contestants celebrating the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
The Queen died peacefully at the age of 96 in Balmoral, ending her remarkable reign of more than 70 years on the throne.
BBC One suspended its regular programming following news this afternoon that her majesty was under medical supervision.
The corporation interrupted Bargain Hunt at 12.39 to deliver the statement from Buckingham Palace which said royal doctors were concerned for health.
It has since aired rolling news coverage with Huw Edwards breaking the news that the Queen had died.
Thursday’s axed episode of Celebrity MasterChef would have seen former Great British Bake Off judge Dame Mary Berry task the seven remaining contestants to recreate one of her favourite recipes.
